According to the United Nations, 80 percent of Yemenis are currently in need of humanitarian assistance, and 400,000 children under the age of 5 in the country are on the verge of death due to severe malnutrition.
The arrival of the Saudi coalition in Yemen with goals that were not achieved In March 2015, Saudi Arabia launched a coalition of several countries to invade Yemen, but now none of these goals have been achieved. Saudi Arabia launched the aggression under the pretext of bringing back “Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi”, the resigned and fugitive Yemeni president, and claimed that he would soon return power to him. Saudi Arabia’s aggression against Yemen is now in its seventh year and Riyadh has not achieved its goals in this war, but it continues to besiege and bomb Yemen.
Over the years, the Saudi coalition has consistently targeted Yemen’s vital infrastructure; Drinking water facilities, hospitals, schools, farms, medical centers, weddings and many other Yemeni facilities have been destroyed or damaged by the Saudi coalition bombing.
Siege of Yemen along with air strikes
During these years, the Saudi coalition, in addition to airstrikes and bombing of civilian positions in Yemen, has been besieging the country and preventing the entry of humanitarian items into the country.
The siege of Yemen by Saudi Arabia has left the country with a severe shortage of vital equipment.
The Saudi coalition does not even allow Yemeni patients to leave the country for treatment, and this has led to the death of thousands of Yemenis so far.
The worst famine in Yemen
“Sixteen million Yemenis are suffering from hunger, of which about 5 million are on the brink of starvation,” said Mark Lukok, UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, in a report on the Yemeni crisis.
“The Yemeni famine will be the worst human-caused famine in the world for decades,” Lukok said.
